Canvas from Canvas People arrived! The Review here

I had an awesome opportunity a short while ago to get a free 11″x14″ print from Canvas people. It arrived the other day, and I’ve been meaning to give a review of it.

Quality: 8/10
The print looks exactly like my image. it’s very clear, and it is on the stretcher straight and true. The biggest issue I have with the canvas is that it is super shiny. It’s very difficult to find a place to hang it that doesn’t have light hitting it in such a manner that you can’t see half of the image. I contacted them to see if I could spray it with matte varnish to eliminate this problem, but they recommended against it due to possibly damaging the canvas. I don’t like shiny prints as a whole because I feel that they distract from the print overall, and finding the right angle to view it without the glare can be frustrating.

Shipping: 10/10
I had the print quicker than it even said on the delivery information. The print arrived in a form fit box, wrapped in plastic and well protected. It included hanging hardware, as well as instructions for cleaning and maintaining it.

Cost: 8/10
While I this one is free, canvas prints on a whole tend to be very expensive. Time, production and so on make it an investment on a decision to purchase one for yourself. I find that they offer some of the best deals here, but if you don’t have them friended on Facebook or have someone send you a discount coupon it can be more expensive. Definitely one worth following on Facebook though, as they do all sorts of promotions and discounts, including your first 8″x10″ canvas free (you pay shipping).

Communication: 10/10
Simply wonderful! It was easy to contact, simple to keep an eye on the production and shipment of the print through their website. It is shipped with tracking information so you can easily log on with the number and find out where it is. They also offer several different shipping options.

Options: 6/10
I rate this at a five because I find that the additional costs for the print to be made black and white, sepia or other options seems to be a bit much in my opinion. It’s not hard to take a few seconds to just open the image and make it black and white, or even sepia, versus paying $9.99 to have it done for you. I realize not everyone finds this so easy to do, but again, it’s just my opinion. They also offer other services on their website, such as colour correction.

Sizes available: 7/10
They have fewer options than I would like to see for sizes available. I’d like to see more sizes available, especially squares, such as 6″x6″, and 8″x8″, as well as the larger square sizes 12″x12″, 20″x20″ and so on.

Overall, I am pleased with the product I received. It was processed and shipped quickly, and when it arrived, it was entirely undamaged and well packaged. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted to get photographs printed to canvas, especially since there the initial free one, and if you follow them on Facebook you have the opportunity to win free canvases, as well as participate in some really fun contests that you can win entirely free prints.

This is the print I used.
